Edoardo Gabbriellini’s film ‘La città dei vivi’ to debut at Venice Film Festival

Edoardo Gabbriellini’s film ‘La città dei vivi’ will be presented in the Orizzonti section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The production, involving Eagle Pictures, Cinemaundici, Lungta Film, and HBO MAX, is inspired by Nicola Lagioia’s novel of the same name.

The film explores the tragic 2016 murder of Luca Varani in Rome, moving beyond a mere reconstruction of the crime to examine the social, cultural, and emotional fragilities of the modern era. The cast includes Emanuele Maria Di Stefano as the protagonist, alongside Valerio Mastandrea, Gaia Merlonghi, Simona Senzacqua, and Roberta Mattei.

While the film is set for a theatrical release on October 1st, its trailer has already sparked debate on social media. The film is also scheduled to be presented at the Toronto International Film Festival.
