EDP Renováveis increases electricity production by 2% through September

EDP Renováveis reported a 2% increase in electricity production during the first nine months of 2026 compared to the same period last year. The company's installed capacity reached 20.5 gigawatts (GW) by the end of September, representing a 4% year-on-year growth driven by 1.9 GW of new capacity, with 56% of those additions located in the United States.

Solar energy production rose by 12% to 7.7 TWh, supported by a 17% increase in North America, while onshore wind production saw a 1% decline to 22.2 TWh. Renewable sources accounted for 92% of the group's total electricity generation. Additionally, pumped hydro generation increased by 20% to 2.1 TWh.

In the networks segment, distributed electricity grew by 3% to 70.2 TWh. This included a 2% increase in the Iberian Peninsula—with a 3% rise in Portugal and a 2% drop in Spain due to a temporary industrial client interruption—and a 3.9% increase in Brazil attributed to higher temperatures in the third quarter.
