Edson Domingues Nogueira, former Santa Cruz president, dies at 82
Edson Domingues Nogueira, known as Edinho, died on 7 August 2026 at the age of 82. He served as president of Santa Cruz Futebol Clube from 2007 to 2008, a period that included the club’s first relegation to Brazil’s Série D.
Nogueira also led the Federação Pernambucana de Futsal, where he was credited with expanding the sport’s calendar, raising its national profile and strengthening athlete development in Pernambuco. Both Santa Cruz and the futsal federation released statements expressing deep condolences to his family and the sporting community. The cause of death was not disclosed.
