STF President Edson Fachin implements new rules and addresses Banco Master investigation FAST-MOVING

STF President Edson Fachin has implemented new procedural rules and addressed ongoing investigations involving the Supreme Court. A new resolution establishes a screening process for petitions filed by third parties in existing cases. This measure aims to prevent the strategic targeting of specific ministers by ensuring that new requests are directly related to the original proceedings before being assigned to a rapporteur.

Separately, Fachin has engaged with the Federal Police regarding the Banco Master investigation. He has requested a formal report on potential involvement of STF ministers, stating that investigations must proceed “without exception of person” to ensure institutional integrity. The Federal Police are scheduled to meet with Fachin on October 13 to present a list of ministers mentioned in communications with former banker Daniel Vorcaro.

Additionally, Fachin issued a statement defending democratic processes and the importance of the upcoming elections, calling for a peaceful voting environment and expressing confidence in the autonomy of judicial and investigative institutions.
