Mexican midfielder Edson Álvarez, currently on the books of West Ham United, has reached a principle agreement for a season‑long loan with an option to buy by 1. FC Köln in the German Bundesliga. The deal, slated for the 2026/27 season, remains subject to a revised salary arrangement that the player must accept.

Álvarez, 28, left West Ham after the club’s relegation from the Premier League prompted a rapid reduction of high‑wage contracts.
