Edson Álvarez returns to West Ham United after two-month absence

Mexican midfielder Edson Álvarez has returned to action with West Ham United following a nearly two-month absence from the first team. He participated as a second-half substitute in a closed-door friendly match against Wycombe Wanderers, which West Ham won 2-0 with goals from Tomáš Souček and Joël Piroe.

Álvarez had previously been excluded from squad call-ups after seeking a transfer during the recent market window to avoid playing in the Championship following the team's relegation. Despite links to clubs such as Olympiakos and Ajax, no transfer was finalized, and he remained with the London club.

His return during the FIFA international break offers an opportunity to reintegrate into the squad under manager Nuno Espírito Santo. He may feature in the upcoming Championship match against Queens Park Rangers on October 9.
