Edu Gaspar appointed senior advisor to Northampton Town

Former Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar has taken on a senior advisory role at English League Two club Northampton Town. Gaspar will provide guidance on sporting matters to the club’s new owners on an ad hoc basis.

The appointment strengthens the connection between Northampton Town and the Bulgarian club Levski Sofia. Both clubs share investment links through Gemcorp Capital, owned by Atanas Bostandzhiev, which is a key investor in Sports Alpha Capital (SAC). SAC recently finalized the acquisition of Northampton Town in a deal involving a Brazilian consortium that includes former Milan and Chelsea striker Alexandre Pato.

Gaspar, who previously served as global football director at Nottingham Forest, is also a member of the board of directors at Levski Sofia. Northampton Town currently faces significant challenges, sitting 23rd in League Two and facing the risk of relegation.
