Eduardo Gattás announces permanent road repairs in Ciudad Victoria

Mayor Eduardo Gattás Báez has announced a permanent road maintenance and pothole repair program in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, which is scheduled to continue until the end of his administration on September 30, 2027. The initiative currently utilizes four crews consisting of approximately 25 to 30 workers to address infrastructure needs across various sectors of the city.

While acknowledging that pavement remains a significant challenge, the administration reported improvements in other public services, including street lighting and garbage collection, which has reached 98 percent coverage. Additionally, the mayor highlighted progress in public security and the prioritization of a second aqueduct line to ensure long-term water supply.

Despite these administrative claims, there is reported social dissatisfaction regarding the quality of public services in the capital. Political discussions suggest that public discontent may impact the mayor's political prospects in the upcoming 2027 elections, particularly as he seeks potential party leadership roles within the Morena structure.
