Eduardo Gattás Báez wins Ciudad Victoria mayoralty

Eduardo Gattás Báez, a politician from Ciudad Victoria, has navigated several political shifts and challenges throughout his career. After previously serving as a councilman and running as a PRI candidate for local deputy, Gattás transitioned to the MORENA party following internal political conflicts within the PRI.

During his time with MORENA, Gattás faced a significant dispute in March 2024 regarding the mayoral candidacy for Ciudad Victoria. Following a press conference by federal legislator Mario Llergo, which named Jorge ‘Tico’ García as the winner of the internal survey, Gattás and his team contested the decision. This dispute led MORENA to dissolve its alliance with the Green Party and the Labor Party for the local election. Ultimately, Gattás ran independently for the mayoralty of Ciudad Victoria and won the election.
