Eduardo Llugdar explains judicial competencies to law students

Dr. Eduardo Llugdar, First Vice President of the Superior Tribunal of Justice, addressed first-year law students from the Universidad Católica de Santiago del Estero. During the session, Llugdar detailed the distinctions between federal and ordinary justice within Argentina’s federal system.

He noted that approximately 85% of criminal cases are handled by ordinary justice under the procedural code established by the Santiago del Estero legislature. He also outlined the judicial organization of the province, which includes five jurisdictions—Banda, Frías, Añatuya, Monte Quemado, and Termas de Río Hondo—to ensure judges maintain proximity to the locations of legal events.

Furthermore, Llugdar explained that the Superior Tribunal of Justice performs both jurisdictional functions, such as issuing sentences, and administrative roles, including disciplinary oversight of employees.
