Eduardo Paes files complaint over misleading electoral propaganda

The campaign of Eduardo Paes (PSD) has filed a complaint with the Electoral Court regarding the distribution of propaganda materials designed to confuse voters. The campaign alleges a coordinated effort to associate Paes with the numbers 13 and 22, rather than his official number, 55, for the Rio de Janeiro governorship.

The legal action, filed in the 188th Electoral Zone, accuses the campaign of Douglas Ruas (PL) and the EDG Editora Gráfica of involvement. The materials reportedly include pamphlets that pair Paes with President Lula (PT) and associate him with the number 13, while simultaneously pairing Douglas Ruas with Flávio Bolsonaro and the number 22.

Paes's legal team is requesting an injunction for the search and seizure of materials at the EDG printing house in Niterói, digital forensic analysis of equipment to identify the distribution chain, and the immediate cessation of the materials' circulation. The campaign claims these actions aim to induce voter error, noting that in previous instances, thousands of voters entered incorrect numbers resulting in annulled votes.
