Eduardo Paes pledges to complete Nova Friburgo oncology hospital

Eduardo Paes, a candidate for the governorship of Rio de Janeiro, has pledged to complete and operationalize the Nova Friburgo State Oncology Hospital if elected. The facility, located in the Serrana Region, has been under construction since 2012 but remains unfinished.

Paes’s platform includes a strategy to decentralize healthcare services to reduce the need for patients to travel to the capital or the Metropolitan Region for specialized treatment. In addition to the oncology hospital, he proposed completing the Mother's State Hospital in São Gonçalo and constructing two new regional public hospitals in the Serrana and Northwest Fluminense regions. He also intends to expand the network of specialized care through the creation of regionalized Super Health Centers in areas such as Baixada Fluminense and Região dos Lagos.
