Eduardo Paes outlines security and economic plans for Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro gubernatorial candidate Eduardo Paes (PSD) has outlined several key proposals focusing on economic recovery, public security, and infrastructure. During a visit to Estaleiro Mauá in Niterói, Paes pledged to revitalize the state's naval industry, promising to create 50,000 direct and 250,000 indirect jobs through debt refinancing for shipyards and specialized professional training.

Regarding public security, Paes proposed reorganizing the state's command structure by reuniting the Civil and Military police under a single Security Secretariat to restore hierarchy. He emphasized the need for technical appointments rather than political ones and aims to combat organized crime by reclaiming territories through permanent occupation and integrated public policies.

In terms of mobility, Paes announced plans to expand the metro system to Belford Roxo and São João de Meriti, complete Line 2, and initiate Line 3. His platform also includes recovering the state's railway network and implementing a unified electronic ticketing system. Additionally, Paes stated he would continue efforts to clean up the public administration by maintaining audits and transparency measures to prevent the use of ghost positions.
