Eduardo Raimo, former Avellino striker, dies at 55

Former Avellino striker Eduardo Raimo has died at the age of 55 following a long illness. Born in Portici in 1971, Raimo was a prominent talent in Italian youth football during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Raimo is best remembered for setting a historic record at the Torneo di Viareggio. On February 13, 1990, during a match against Slavia Prague, he scored the fastest goal in the history of the prestigious youth tournament, finding the net after just 16 seconds. He finished that competition as a joint top scorer.

After debuting in Serie B with Avellino under coach Eugenio Fascetti, his professional progression was significantly hindered by a serious injury. Following his time with Avellino, he played for Latina, where he recorded 29 appearances and several goals, and later played for Savoia.
