Eduardo Riedel (PP) has been reelected as the Governor of Mato Grosso do Sul in the first round of the 2026 elections. Securing 67.07% of valid votes with 914,323 votes, Riedel finished more than 43 percentage points ahead of the runner-up, Fábio Trad (PT), who received 23.68%.
Following his victory, Riedel has begun restructuring his administration for the upcoming term, which will run until 2030. A working group consisting of high-ranking officials has been established to prepare the 2027-2030 Government Plan. This group is tasked with mapping programs and identifying administrative improvements by December 4. Riedel has identified education, professional qualification, infrastructure, sanitation, and municipal partnerships as primary priorities for his next mandate.
