PRM ratifies legislative leadership and shapes 2028 strategy

The Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) has finalized several key leadership decisions aimed at maintaining party unity and preparing for the 2028 presidential elections. The party's Executive Directorate ratified Ricardo de los Santos and Alfredo Pacheco to continue leading the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, respectively, for the upcoming legislature starting August 16.

In the Senate, de los Santos will be accompanied by Vice President Julito Fulcar and secretaries Guillermo Lama and Aracelys Villanueva. The party also reached a consensus for a leadership transition in 2027, with Alexis Victoria slated to assume the Senate presidency. In the Chamber of Deputies, the current leadership team, including Vice President Dharuelly D’Aza, will be maintained.

Internally, the PRM is also navigating future presidential aspirations. Eduardo ‘Yayo’ Sanz Lovatón has publicly endorsed David Collado for the 2028 presidency, citing Collado's professional trajectory. While some observers view the party's recent consensus-based leadership elections as a sign of political maturity and a strategy to preserve power, others have raised questions regarding the level of internal democracy and the influence of established political clans.
