Eduardo Yáñez cleared of robbery charges in legal dispute

Actor Eduardo Yáñez has announced a favorable legal ruling in a case brought against him by journalist Patricia Cuevas. The legal dispute originated from an incident in June 2024 during the Grandeza Hispana awards at the Teatro Centenario Coyoacán.

Cuevas had accused Yáñez of aggravated robbery after an altercation in which she claimed he took her mobile phone and failed to return it immediately. Yáñez denied the allegations, asserting that the journalist had struck him with the device before he took it from her. Following various court appearances in Mexico City, a judge determined that Yáñez did not commit the crime of which he was accused.

Yáñez expressed relief regarding the conclusion of the process, though he noted that the opposing party may still file an appeal.
