Education International holds 5th World Conference of Women in Bahia

The 5th World Conference of Women of Education International (IE) took place in Camaçari, Bahia, from September 15 to 17. The event brought together more than 360 union leaders from 57 countries to discuss gender equity, working conditions, and the role of education in defending democracy.

Key discussions focused on increasing female representation in decision-making roles within unions and schools. Participants also addressed the specific obstacles faced by Black, Indigenous, migrant, LGBTQIA+, and disabled women in reaching leadership positions. The conference concluded with the launch of the new IE Action Plan for Gender Equality, which will guide the organization until the 2029 World Congress.
