Education Minister Kumbaro meets school leaders in Fier

Albanian Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro met with school administrators and local education officials in Fier to discuss the organization of the 2026-2027 school year. During the meeting, Kumbaro emphasized the role of school leaders as vital intermediaries between schools, communities, and local administrative units.

The Minister outlined a new calendar of activities, including national olympiads—notably a new foreign language olympiad—and the second edition of the science festival for high schools. Other initiatives mentioned include the “Gjurma e Shqipes” competition for eighth-grade Albanian language students and the upcoming “National Reading Movement 2.0.”

Additionally, Kumbaro addressed the implementation of the “After School” program, which will expand to more than 90 schools in the Fier region, and called for increased attention to school security and the careful selection of program trainers.
