Education ministers in La Rioja and Bolivia address school calendars and teacher strikes

In La Rioja, Argentina, Education Minister Ariel Martínez confirmed that the school year will conclude during the second week of December. Martínez highlighted the province's ability to maintain educational continuity without interruptions from labor strikes for over a year, attributing this stability to provincial policies that prioritize education. He also criticized the national government for reducing investment in public education and failing to address regional asymmetries.

In Bolivia, Education Minister Ricardo Erick Sanjinés Chávez announced that the government will implement salary deductions for teachers participating in strikes, stating, “Día trabajado es día no pagado” (A day worked is a day not paid). Sanjinés also proposed decentralizing technical and technological institutes by transferring the responsibility for hiring and paying teachers to regional governments. This proposal aims to better align vocational training with local productive needs, with an estimated annual cost of 450 million bolivianos.
