Education ministries in Sierra Leone and Fiji address withheld results and grants

In Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has announced that over 1,100 withheld National Primary School Examination (NPSE) results will be released soon. The results were initially withheld because 61 schools failed to submit mandatory Continuous Assessment Scores (CASS), which account for 10 per cent of a student's final grade. While more than 40 of these schools have since submitted the required data, some results remain withheld due to examination irregularities and registration failures.

In Fiji, Education Minister Aseri Radrodro reported that 42 schools—35 primary and seven secondary—did not receive their Free Education Grants for the 2025 academic year. The withholding of funds was due to non-compliance with financial management and accountability requirements, such as student class audits and annual financial reporting. Radrodro noted that while these schools missed funding, overall school administration and compliance have improved significantly since 2022.
