Education programs in Mexico and Chile aim to boost literacy and math

Fundación Imagina in Mexico will host its fourth Golf Tournament with a Cause on 25 September at Club Campestre Los Lagos. The event, expected to gather 132 players, will raise funds to continue the foundation’s educational support for the community of Miguel Alemán, Sonora, where it has already helped more than 12,700 children improve their mathematics and reading skills through supplemental classes, tutoring and health services.

In Chile, the Ministry of Education presented the “Chile Aprende y Avanza” program, announced by President José Antonio Kast and detailed by Minister María Paz Arzola. The plan focuses on strengthening basic reading and mathematics outcomes for students in early grades, providing diagnostic assessments, teacher‑training on evidence‑based strategies, and resources to build a positive educational culture in schools.

Both initiatives seek to close learning gaps and prevent school‑dropout by reinforcing foundational skills and involving communities and public institutions in the effort.
