Educational and commemorative events scheduled in Italy

Several educational and commemorative events are scheduled for Friday, October 2, in Italy.

In Seveso, the exhibition ‘1976 – 2026 – La memoria di Seveso tra i banchi di scuola’ will open at the local library. The project, titled ‘Ci vuole un fiore’, features interviews conducted by students from the Istituto comprensivo via Adua. These interviews aim to preserve the local memory of the Icmesa dioxin disaster on its 50th anniversary. The initiative involved various partners, including Legambiente Lombardia, and has already seen some materials delivered to the Historical Archive of the Lombardy Region.

Separately, the Istituto Vespucci-Colombo will host a training afternoon titled ‘La scuola che legge’ at its Piazza Vigo headquarters. The event focuses on promoting reading in schools as an inclusive and formative experience rather than a mere academic duty. The session includes presentations by experts Loredana Camizzi and Simone Piccinini regarding reading practices and the role of school libraries. The afternoon will conclude with a presentation of the novel ‘Come la tempesta, come l’amore’ by author Azzurra D’Agostino.
