Educational and health institutions launch mental health prevention initiatives

Educational and health institutions are implementing initiatives to strengthen mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

In Argentina, the Ministry of Public Health's Mental Health Directorate organized a session at the Hospital de Aguilares. The event brought together health professionals, municipal representatives, and secondary school students to address suicidal ideation through a community-based approach. Activities included recreational games and artistic interventions to encourage expression among adolescents. Dr. Miguel Ferre Contreras emphasized the growing nature of this issue and the necessity of maintaining specialized health teams to support the adolescent population.

Similarly, the ITSVA conducted awareness talks titled ‘Prevenir, empieza por hablar’ and ‘Señales de alerta y prevención del suicidio’. Led by psychology professionals, these sessions focused on recognizing warning signs, promoting dialogue, and providing tools for emotional well-being within the student community. The institution highlighted the importance of listening and accompanying those in distress to foster a more supportive environment.
