Educational and sports initiatives launched in Turkey

Various educational and cultural projects are being implemented across Turkey to engage students with history and sports. In Istanbul, the second ‘Tarihin Bilincinde, Demokrasinin İzinde’ project is set to bring 20,000 students to the Democracy and Freedom Island. This initiative, coordinated by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, aims to connect youth with recent history through site visits. Previous surveys indicated that student awareness of the island and historical events, such as the May 27, 1960, period, increased significantly following participation.

In Edirne, the Edirne Governor's Office and the Turkish Archers Foundation have signed a protocol for the ‘Okçuluk Benim Sporum’ (Archery is My Sport) project. The program aims to popularize archery by opening courses in 110 middle and high schools across the province. The initiative seeks to ensure students have easy access to archery training and to revitalize the local sporting culture in the historic city.
