Educational authorities implement STEM and AI training for teachers

Educational authorities in Sint Maarten and Mexico are conducting specialized training programs to modernize teaching methodologies.

In Sint Maarten, the Division of Educational Innovation organized a three-day workshop titled “From STEM to STEAM.” Facilitated by Dr. Delroy Pierre, the program aims to transition educators from traditional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approaches to STEAM by integrating Art as a core component for creativity and problem-solving. The training utilized project-based learning, such as a practical challenge where teachers designed and tested ice stick bridges to demonstrate the intersection of various disciplines.

In Mexico, the SET organized a workshop for preschool education personnel focused on the challenges and possibilities of artificial intelligence. Led by Nora Hilda de los Reyes Vázquez, the subsecretary of Basic Education, the initiative aims to help educators design and implement inclusive pedagogical strategies within the framework of the 2026 Study Plan. The training seeks to align preschool practices with the principles of the New Mexican School, emphasizing humanistic and inclusive education.
