Educational authorities prepare for 2026-2027 school year reopening

Educational authorities in Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are finalizing preparations for the 2026-2027 academic year.

In Cameroon’s Littoral region, officials held a sectoral meeting to review the previous year and set orientations for the upcoming term. The new school year, scheduled to begin on September 7, will focus on fundamental skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic. To support this, diagnostic evaluations will be conducted during the first two weeks of classes to identify students struggling with these core competencies and allow teachers to adapt their pedagogical methods.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Minister of National Education and New Citizenship, Raïssa Malu Dinanga, concluded a conference of provincial education ministers in Kinshasa. The meeting aimed to strengthen coordination between central and provincial authorities and ensure the implementation of educational reforms. The goal is to achieve an inclusive and peaceful school reopening across the country’s 26 provinces, scheduled for September 1, 2026.
