Educational delays reported at schools in Chad and Senegal

Educational institutions in Chad and Senegal are experiencing delays or rescheduled start dates for the new academic year.

At the Lycée de la Paix in N’Djaména, Chad, the school year has failed to gain momentum despite an official start date of October 1. Principal Laradoum Eulalie noted that many students are still completing registration processes. The situation has been complicated by conflicting directives regarding the school's status; while the facility was initially slated for closure to undergo rehabilitation, authorities later requested it reopen for the current year. This reversal has caused uncertainty among parents and students.

In Senegal, the third cohort of the Lycées Nation Armée pour la Qualité et l’Équité (LYNAQE) in Kaffrine and Sédhiou is scheduled to resume classes on October 14, 2026. This follows a national postponement of the school year, which was moved from October 7 to October 12 due to meteorological conditions. The Ministry of National Education is currently addressing logistical needs, including infrastructure, staffing, and access to water and electricity, to ensure a proper reception for the students.
