Educational facilities in Romania and Moldova undergo modernization
Various educational modernization initiatives are being implemented in Romania and Moldova to improve student resources and facilities.
In Romania, DIGI has partnered with the Im Pasă Foundation to launch the ‘Bookster in schools’ program. This subscription-based library model provides approximately 2,100 students and 166 teachers across seven schools in Tulcea, Brașov, and Dolj with access to physical books, audiobooks, and multimedia materials. The system operates on a weekly rotation, allowing schools to borrow up to 30 titles simultaneously.
In Moldova, local communities and international funding are upgrading school environments. In Drăsliceni, the local gymnasium received a multifunctional classroom equipped with interactive boards, internet, and robotics equipment, funded by 130,000 lei collected from the local community and the diaspora. Meanwhile, at the ‘Alexandru cel Bun’ Theoretical High School in Rezina, the European Union provided approximately 110,000 euros to transform two classrooms into a modern chess space. This project, part of the ‘Chess Without Borders’ initiative by the Chess Federation of Moldova, serves about 100 students.
