Educational fire prevention game wins award at SBoardGames 2026
The educational board game ‘É Fogo!’ has won the Best Narrative award at the SBoardGames 2026 festival held in Goiânia. Developed by the Arena Lúdica research group from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) in partnership with the Mato Grosso State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema-MT), the project was also a finalist in the Best Game Design and Best Game categories within the Serious Game category.
The cooperative card game tasks players with acting as a team to combat fires through coordinated actions, simulating real-world scenarios such as area recognition, firefighting, and environmental restoration. The game is available for free on the Tabletopia platform.
Project leaders emphasized that the game serves as a tool for environmental education, helping participants develop skills in dialogue, territorial planning, and cooperation, which are essential for responding to forest fires and climate emergencies.
