Educational infrastructure projects advance in Uganda and Tanzania

Educational institutions in Uganda and Tanzania are undertaking significant infrastructure and resource improvements.

Gayaza Junior School in Uganda has launched a Shs 704 million fundraising campaign to purchase a new school bus. The school, which operates across two campuses located 40 kilometres apart, aims to reduce the high costs and logistical difficulties associated with hiring external transport. Head teacher Sarah Tebuguwa Kizito noted that the bus will support the movement of pupils and staff for academic, sporting, and cultural activities. The school has already secured Shs 350 million toward the goal.

In Geita, Tanzania, construction is underway for the Kashishi Secondary School, a project expected to cost over 700 million Shillings. The school, which will be the first government multi-story school in the Geita District, is designed to reduce the long walking distances previously required for students to attend classes. The project, which is 75 percent complete, was initiated by local citizens and has received significant support from development stakeholder Evarist Gervas, who contributed over 300 million Shillings toward the infrastructure.
