Educational initiatives and sustainability awards recognized in Lithuania

Various educational achievements and pedagogical developments were highlighted in Lithuania. In the Molėtai district, the ‘Sustainable School 2030’ awards ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of ten local educational institutions. Molėtai Gymnasium and the Aukštaitija Vocational Training Center achieved the highest sustainability rating, placing them among 25 schools in Lithuania to receive the top tier of recognition for 2026.

Other institutions in Molėtai, including Alanta Gymnasium and the Molėtai Sports and Culture Center, received second-tier awards, while several others were recognized at the first tier. The awards emphasize resource conservation, environmental care, and the creation of safe, healthy learning spaces.

In Jonava, a national seminar for preschool educators titled ‘From Program to Change’ was held at the ‘Lakštingalėlė’ nursery-kindergarten. The event focused on implementing updated preschool education programs and sharing best practices. Topics included mathematical thinking, slow pedagogy, sustainability, sensory experiences, and social partnerships. Presentations addressed how to translate educational guidelines into meaningful daily experiences for children, including methods to reduce food waste.
