Educational initiatives focus on literacy and civic values in Mexico

In Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, architect Carlos Germán de Anda Hernández attended the reopening of the library at the Reginaldo Elizondo kindergarten. De Anda Hernández, an internal Morena party aspirant, emphasized the necessity of strengthening learning spaces and early childhood access to books to foster future generations. He highlighted federal support programs such as the Rita Cetina, Benito Juárez, and Jóvenes Escribiendo el Futuro scholarships, as well as the ‘La Escuela es Nuestra’ program for school infrastructure improvement.

In a separate educational activity, students at the Juan Ramón Jiménez kindergarten participated in a democratic voting process to name their school library. Under the guidance of Director Karla Ivette López Villanueva and with materials provided by the National Electoral Institute, 55 students aged three to five cast votes to decide the library's name. The winning name, ‘Tesoros de Papel’, received 40 votes, surpassing other candidates in an exercise designed to teach children about civic participation and the right to express opinions.
