Educational initiatives launched in Nicaragua and Colombia
Nicaragua's Ministry of Education (MINED) held the National Festival of Educational Innovation and Technology. The event featured secondary school students from all 19 departments presenting mobile applications and technological proposals designed to address social, academic, and environmental challenges. The competition involved 972 students organized into 324 teams, progressing through municipal and departmental stages to reach the national level.
In Colombia, the Atenea Agency launched the ‘Jóvenes a la E: Educación Superior Públicas 5’ call for applications. Aimed at students at the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, the program seeks to reduce dropout rates in Bogotá by providing financial support to 149 students. Beneficiaries will receive a monthly subsidy of up to one minimum wage per academic period, provided they complete social internships in the city. The initiative prioritizes students from vulnerable localities such as Usme, Ciudad Bolívar, and Kennedy.
