Educational initiatives promote environmental awareness in Turkey

In the Andırın district of Kahramanmaraş, a competition titled ‘Nature and Livable Environment’ was held among high schools to increase environmental awareness. Students competed on topics including environmental pollution, zero waste, ecological balance, and the protection of natural life. Şehit Tacettin Çeribaş Anadolu Lisesi won the competition and earned the right to represent the district in the provincial finals.

In the Çermik district of Diyarbakır, the Alakoç Kindergarten is implementing a nature-based education model. Students engage in outdoor learning activities such as drawing in nature, gardening with heirloom seeds, and participating in food preparation. The school utilizes a circular system by using natural fertilizer from its own poultry coop and practicing zero-waste principles by using food scraps to feed the animals.
