Educational initiatives report progress in Chile and Mexico
In Chile, Entel and Fundación Belén Educa have marked 13 years of their mentorship program designed to assist high school students in transitioning to higher education. The 2026 cycle concluded with 25 tutors from the telecommunications company supporting 25 students through a series of meetings aimed at career planning and academic preparation. To date, the program has supported approximately 330 young people, contributing to an estimated 10% increase in higher education continuity among participants.
In Coahuila, Mexico, the State Institute for Adult Education (IEEA) reported that over 24,000 youths and adults have begun or completed primary or secondary studies in 2026. The institute aims to reach a goal of 25,382 individuals by the end of the year. Coahuila currently maintains an illiteracy rate of 1.3%, which is significantly lower than the Mexican national average of 3.7%. While the state leads nationally in reducing primary education gaps for those over 15, officials identified upper secondary and higher education as key areas for future growth.
