Educational institutions expand sign language and inclusion programs

Educational institutions in Argentina and Mexico are expanding initiatives related to sign language and inclusion.

In Argentina, the Instituto Provincial de Educación Superior (IPES) and Escuela Especial Nº 4 organized a joint session to commemorate the Day of Deaf People. The event focused on Argentine Sign Language (LSA), promoting deaf culture and visibility. The initiative allowed special education students to interact with higher education students, aiming to break communication barriers and strengthen the pedagogical training of future special education teachers.

In Mexico, the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN) in Piedras Negras is considering expanding its sign language courses due to rising demand. Interest has grown among university students seeking professional tools, as well as community members and families of children with hearing impairments. The institution is looking to open new groups for the community, provided there is sufficient registration and a commitment to consistent attendance.
