Educational institutions expand to meet rising student demand

Educational institutions in Spain are expanding to meet rising student demands. In Vitoria, the municipal music school expects to reach approximately 2,000 students for the 2026-27 academic year. This growth follows the administrative integration of the folklore academy and the music school, which was completed in September 2025. To manage the increased workload and diverse activities such as concerts and workshops, a proposal has been made to increase the dedication of various management and teaching positions, including roles for violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

In Torrevieja, the IES Mare Nostrum is implementing additional prefabricated classrooms to accommodate a surge in secondary school enrollment. The local Department of Education has received hundreds of school placement requests outside the standard enrollment period. The expansion includes five units, restrooms, and a multipurpose space, primarily serving first and second-year ESO students. This initiative serves as a preliminary step toward potentially establishing a new delegated section or a seventh secondary institute for the city.
