Educational leaders call for AI policy and responsible implementation

Educational leaders and innovators are addressing the integration of artificial intelligence in classrooms through both technological development and calls for policy frameworks.

Eylsia Nicolas, founder of EDTV, has introduced a position statement regarding her company’s proprietary, patent-pending technology. She argues that the debate should shift from whether AI should exist in schools to how it can be implemented responsibly to support personalized learning, accessibility, and student engagement without dehumanizing the educational experience.

In Ghana, the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) is calling for a national policy on AI in teacher education. Professor Samuel Awinkene Atintono noted that students are adopting AI faster than institutions can establish guidelines. Additionally, the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has emphasized that for AI integration to be successful, teachers must be provided with necessary digital resources, such as laptops, to facilitate their work.
