Educational leadership changes in Chiapas and Baja California

In Chiapas, Indra Ruth Toledo Coutiño has assumed the role of General Director of the Colegio de Bachilleres de Chiapas (Cobach). During her initial meeting with staff and administrators, Toledo Coutiño emphasized a digital transformation to streamline administrative processes and a commitment to improving academic quality and student development. Her administration aims to align with the state's humanist policies to ensure students view high school as a platform for further studies.

Additionally, the Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas (UNACH) has appointed Rocío Moreno Vidal as its new General Secretary, succeeding María del Carmen Vázquez Velasco. Rector Oswaldo Chacón Rojas noted that Moreno Vidal’s experience will support institutional stability and governance.

In Baja California, civil associations are demanding that the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) appoint its first female rector during the upcoming leadership renewal. Activists argue that the institution must adhere to principles of substantive equality and parity, noting that since its founding in 1959, the university has had 17 male rectors and no female leaders.
