Educational programs expand in Quintana Roo and Yucatán
Educational initiatives are expanding across the Yucatán Peninsula. In Quintana Roo, the state government has launched the English Language Teaching Program (PEIIQRO) in the rural community of Nicolás Bravo. The program, implemented through the Secretary of Education, aims to bridge the opportunity gap between urban and rural areas by providing bilingual skills to primary school students.
In Yucatán, the Universidad Tecnológica del Mar de Yucatán (UTMY) has officially begun operations. This public institution, established in coordination with the Mexican federal government, serves 60 students in its inaugural class. The university offers specialized degrees in Aquaculture, Maritime and Port Management, and Natural Resources and Environment to support the region's maritime, fishing, and port sectors.
