Educational programs on childbirth and parenting held in Japan
Various educational initiatives focused on childbirth and parenting were held in Japan to promote understanding of life and childcare responsibilities.
In Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, an event was held for approximately 200 pregnant women to mark “Ii Oshan no Hi” (Good Childbirth Day). The event, organized by the Ehime Prefecture Obstetrical and Gynecological Association, featured a talk show by Akiko Kawasaki regarding supportive parenting attitudes. The program also included a piano concert by professional pianist Kozue Kawabata.
In Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, Sumiyoshi Junior High School hosted a program aimed at teaching third-grade students about the responsibilities of parenthood and sexual health. Led by midwife Yuko Imoto, the session included lessons on biological differences and the importance of mutual respect in relationships. Students participated in practical exercises, such as wearing an eight-kilogram pregnancy simulator jacket and interacting with infants through the cooperation of the NPO Baby Smile Ishinomaki.
