Educational programs promote environmental and personal safety in Mexico and Ecuador

Educational initiatives in Mexico and Ecuador are focusing on environmental awareness and personal safety for students. In Tlajomulco, Mexico, the ‘Tlajo verde y seguro’ program reached over 250 students at Colegio Santa Cruz. The program addressed cybersecurity risks, including cyberbullying and human trafficking, while also teaching protocols for missing persons. Additionally, the initiative covered climate change, environmental protection, and responsible pet ownership, including the importance of vaccination and sterilization.

In Tulcán, Ecuador, a study at Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional La Salle explored the impact of using games made from recyclable materials to teach environmental stewardship. Research involving 100 fourth-grade students demonstrated a positive correlation between playing with recycled materials and fostering responsible environmental behaviors, such as reducing waste and reusing items. The findings suggest that practical, play-based learning can effectively encourage sustainable habits in young children.
