Educational research examines AI and AR integration in classrooms
Academic research has examined the integration of emerging technologies in K-12 education, focusing on generative artificial intelligence (GAI) and augmented reality (AR).
A phenomenological study of virtual elementary teachers revealed that while GAI can improve efficiency and instructional quality, educators must balance these benefits against risks such as misinformation, privacy concerns, and ethical issues. The study suggests that the value of GAI depends on human-centered application and AI literacy.
Separately, research into augmented reality adoption in classrooms identified significant barriers for teachers, including workload pressures, technical infrastructure limitations, and a lack of curriculum-aligned content. Findings indicate that providing simplified authoring tools is insufficient on its own; teachers gain more confidence when they are actively involved in creating and testing the content themselves.
