Educational research examines digital learning and gender equity in Peru and Ecuador

Academic research in Peru and Ecuador highlights diverse challenges and methodologies within the educational sectors of both nations.

A study conducted at the Universidad Nacional Daniel Alcides Carrión in Pilcomayo, Huancayo, examined the impact of using Facebook to improve reading skills among preschool students. The quantitative research, involving a sample of 14 students, demonstrated a significant correlation between the use of the social media application and improved reading performance.

In Ecuador, research from the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana analyzed the right to access public higher education through a gender identity lens. The study focused on the district of Quito, Pichincha, comparing public policy intentions with statistical data regarding university enrollment. The findings suggest that despite constitutional guarantees, inequities persist for women and the LGBTIQ+ community, noting a lack of sufficient information and policy effectiveness in ensuring equitable access.
