Educational shifts in Gniezno and Połuknie

In Gniezno, Poland, a municipal nursery school branch on Sikorskiego Street has closed after nearly eight years of operation. City officials cited a demographic decline and a decrease in interest as the primary reasons for the closure. President Michał Powałowski stated that the city has seen approximately 70 vacant spots in its nurseries over the last school year, allowing the capacity to be redistributed to other existing facilities.

In Lithuania, the status of a Polish school in Połuknie has become a point of contention, with the institution beginning the school year as a branch rather than a full school. Lithuanian Minister Raminta Popovienė indicated that while the ministry could potentially take over the school, significant legal changes would be required, a process expected to take considerable time.
