Educational studies examine student motivation in Peru and Ecuador

Recent educational studies in Peru and Ecuador have examined the impact of motivation on student engagement and academic success.

In Piura, Peru, research at I. E. P. El Triunfo focused on a metarepresentation-based program to improve reading motivation among third-grade secondary students. The study found that 43.3% of students exhibited regular to high levels of reading motivation. While reading curiosity was predominantly at a regular level (60.0%), 50.0% of students showed high levels of reading valuation. The study concluded that current motivation levels are acceptable for future complex reading tasks.

In Ecuador, a study at the Luz del Saber Basic Education School investigated how school motivation influences the academic performance of seventh-grade students. Addressing issues such as low class participation and incomplete assignments, the research utilized the self-determination theory to emphasize the importance of autonomy and competence. The findings highlight the necessity of strengthening pedagogical strategies to foster student interest and commitment.
