Educational training initiatives launched for teachers in Colombia and Uruguay
In Boyacá, Colombia, 75 teachers from official educational institutions participated in English language training workshops. Organized by the Boyacá Secretary of Education with support from Peace Corps volunteers, the sessions targeted preschool, primary, and secondary educators. The training focused on strengthening communicative competencies and providing pedagogical tools to make English learning more effective in classrooms.
In Tacuarembó, Uruguay, more than 50 students and teachers attended the second edition of the Basic Sciences Strengthening Workshop at the University of the Republic’s Northeast Regional University Center (CENUR). This initiative, part of the Ciencia Joven ANEP–PEDECIBA program, aimed to connect education with scientific research. Participants engaged in practical biology and chemistry activities, such as DNA extraction and the study of plant pigments, to encourage scientific vocations and improve laboratory methodologies in primary education.
