Educational trends and pedagogical research emerge in Chile and Ecuador

Various educational research and developments are highlighting new pedagogical approaches in Chile and Ecuador. In Chile, the Reggio Emilia philosophy is gaining visibility as an alternative to the long-established Montessori method. Unlike Montessori’s focus on prepared environments and autonomy, Reggio Emilia emphasizes collective knowledge construction, dialogue, and treating children’s hypotheses as serious subjects for investigation.

In Ecuador, several studies examine specialized teaching techniques. Research at the Unidad Educativa Virginia Reyes González suggests that Project-Based Learning (ABP) can foster a culture of saving among children aged 5 to 6. In the field of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), studies at the Universidad Estatal Península de Santa Elena explore the effectiveness of visual and auditory resources for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, the use of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) to improve oral fluency, and the strategic use of code-switching to aid vocabulary retention and reduce student anxiety.
