Educational updates: Bangladesh admissions open and India recruitment deadline set

In Bangladesh, the online application process for admission to Class 11 and Alim for the 2026-27 academic year has commenced. In India, the Supreme Court has granted the West Bengal government an extension to complete the recruitment process for approximately 35,000 teaching and non-teaching positions. The court set a final deadline of May 31, 2027, noting that no further extensions will be provided. This ruling follows a major corruption scandal involving the School Service Commission that led to the cancellation of 26,000 appointments. Until the new recruitment is finalized, teachers not identified as ineligible are permitted to remain in their positions on an interim basis.
